One day, a group of young professionals decided to create an island on which they could build a world where the universe would light up the sky and illuminate the sea. A place where respect would be king and harmony, queen. With perseverance, confidence, and an unwavering will, this dream finally came true. In 2018, the island these professionals dreamed of immersed from the Rotary International Ocean and was named the Rotary Club of Delmas-Centre.
On July 5, 2018, we celebrated the birth of the Rotary Club de Delmas-Centre. It was the dawn of a magical world reuniting an unique family. This period mirrored spring and was lead by a flowery, radiant, but solid mountain known as our Past President, Prépré 4×4, the visionary. It was a year blessed by the solar star of innovation, by unity, and by the desire to change things for the better!
July 5, 2019 came around and felt like summer time. That year was guided by Minouche, a feminist and sparkling moon, her arrival was a promising balance in feminine and masculine leadership. It was a warm but sweet time as the comet of novelty continued its course while emphasizing on excellence, which became a tradition in our club. Our large family worked tirelessly to accomplish the impossible to create spheres of activities that elevated our cherished land!
Then, on July 5, 2020, came the magnificent and flamboyant season of fall. It was presided over by the majestic oak tree Zamounda, the elegant guardian of our will, that of united people. It has certainly been an overwhelming season of ups and downs. External catastrophes affected us relentlessly, putting to the test our enthusiasm and excitement for life. But Rotary Club de Delmas-Centre’s roots are deep, its foliage reaches the skies, and its grounded trunk is a powerful bridge facilitating our club’s adaptation to the environment. Thus, the Rotary club of Delmas-Centre held strong in spite of the quasi-permanent turmoil. Our family stuck together, expanded, evolved and improved!
Today, on July 5, 2021, we celebrate the arrival of winter, the last season in this primary 4-year cycle. It comes with a rainbow orchid as its protector. Clothed in her bright white coat and crystal flowers, she symbolizes our passion, our joy, our love of service, as well as our creativity. Over time, we have matured as as a club and, this year again, we are going to give our all to prove our dedication to our ideal which is to bring a little joy around us by gathering our strength, will, and resources to serve our community in order to preserve happiness!
Let’s embrace this new season in our history, and welcome our “Dwèt Selès, the Rainbow Orchid” and her committee. They will be sure to keep our club at the top and to strengthen our ties while innovating! Together we will strive for perfection in bliss, respect and harmony.
